HF Softball Drops One And Then Bests Stillwater

May 17, 2013 By eastwickpress

by Steve Bradley
Last Thursday, the Lady Panthers played their last home game of the season, taking on the Tamarac Bengals. The Bengals came in with a 10-2 record and one of the league’s best pitchers. Even before they sent their first batter to the plate, the Panthers found themselves in a 10 run hole. It was a deficit  they would not be able to overcome. The Bengals ended up ripping the Panthers for a 17-0 win.
Monday the Ladies traveled over Route 67 to visit the Stillwater Warriors. Here the Panthers got back on track, recording an 8 -1 win over their host. Alyssa Ellis was the winning pitcher.
This was the last week of regular season competition. The Panthers will travel to Berne-Knox HS on Thursday, May 16, for a 4:15 game, then Friday, May 17, the Ladies make the trek to Granville for a 4:15 game on the Horde’s home field. The Panthers’ place in post season sectional play has yet to be determined.

In pre-game festivities last Thursday, these senior Panther softball players received accolades and assurances from their teammates and Coach Chris Farley that they will be missed. And they surely will be. From left to right are Sage Guile, Frankie Pearson and Ashley St. Onge. (Steve Bradley photo)
