Lady Panther Lacrosse Season Ends

May 17, 2013 By eastwickpress

by Steve Bradley
Last Thursday, the Lady Panthers lacrosse team hosted the Emma Willard Jesters on the HFCS lacrosse field. After a lengthy delay due to an Emma Willard player being injured in warm-ups, the Panthers looked to upset the Troy team.

It was not to be as the Jesters headed home with a 12-4 win. Jordyn Haynes scored twice, with Rachel Green and Dana O’Malley each adding one goal.
Facing Greenwich on Friday evening under the Witches’ lights, the team hoped to play its way into the Section II playoffs. If the Panthers could come home from Greenwich with a win, they would be able to continue on. The teams went into the halftime break with the Panthers holding their own, down only two, 6-4. In the second half, the Witches pulled away, sending the Panthers home disappointed. The final score of 14-6 ended the Ladies’ season. Jordyn Haynes and Keri Wilkins led the offense with two goals each, and Rachel Green and Destiny Keyes each chipped in one. Madison Greenwood had ten saves in goal. On the season, the team finished 3-10.
Because this is the first official season, this trailblazing team has set HFCS girls lacrosse records in every category, individual and team, which is rather unique. The three wins are a HFCS record. Some of these records may fall next year, or the year after, and others may stand for years to come, but no matter what, every one of these Lady Panthers are current record holders.
