Terri Burdick’s Class – Television Stars

June 21, 2013 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
In March Elaine Houston of Channel 13 Television News visited Mrs. Terri Burdick’s third grade class at HFCS. Burdick was chosen as one of the station’s Teachers of the Week. Two weeks ago she and the other Teachers of the Week were honored at a dinner as well. The segment on Mrs. Burdick was shown on Channel 13 in April.
Recently her students described what it was like to be on television. One young lady said her grandmother called to say she had seen the back of her head on television. Most of the class was briefly visible during the segment. As it was Tropical Day at the school, many of the students had colorful clothes and all of them wore Hawaiian leis. They all agreed it was exciting to be on television.
The students said the videographer, Lou, that came with Houston was great. He told the class they should forget he was there and, as they continued their class work, they were able to forget about him. The students who were asked to speak about their teacher said they were nervous on camera. However, they looked at ease during the segment.
Burdick said the TV team was very nice and made them all feel comfortable. In return Lou told them they were the best third grade he had ever visited. “They are a gold medal class, an award winning class,” said Terri Burdick. And to prove it, the students were creating their own gold medals.
