Town Of Hoosick Rescue Squad Presents Annual EMS Week Program At Hoosick Falls Schools

June 14, 2013 By eastwickpress

submitted by Bill Gaillard
Members of the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad presented their annual EMS week program to St. Mary’s School and Hoosick Falls Central School during the National EMS week celebration from May 19-25. During this time the country recognizes the work done by its EMS agencies.
For the past twenty years the Hoosick Rescue squad has presented these programs at the area’s two schools. In scheduled presentations members of the squad orient kids as to the work done by EMS people and how it relates to the patient.
This year a special presentation focused on students from ages 12-15 to possibly interest them in a Youth EMS group. Currently sixteen year old members serve on a team. The squad feels that a youth program would lead into the “junior” member program. Twenty applications were given out that day.
The Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad answers 750 calls annually with 22 members. Volunteers are always needed. Persons age 18 and over are requested to join to serve their community by calling 686-9715.
