The Berlin Volunteer Fire Company is proud to sponsor the 2013 Berlin Carnival And Community Days to kick off at the Mill Street Field in Berlin on Friday, August 23, from 5 to 10 pm with Amyland Amusements traveling carnival from Rutland, VT, and continuing on Saturday from 11 am to 9 pm. [private]Amyland offers a wide assortment of carnival rides from teens and adults to very small children. Parking is available at the firehouse. It’s a short walk to the carnival field at the end of Mill Street. Please be courteous to our neighbors, and do not park along Mill Street. Handicap drop-off is allowed at the field.
This is a family event, so please no alcoholic beverages.
In addition to Carnival concessions, cotton candy, sno-kones, candy and caramel apples, popcorn and nachos, there will be a number of food vendors from the community and a centrally located food court tent to relax and enjoy the treats. Enjoy the products and services offered by a variety of craft vendors and business professionals.

• $20 wristbands available Friday evening for an all you can ride night.
• Music played by DJ Joe Shaw from 6 to 9 pm.
• Free Child Safety Seat Check conducted by the Rensselaer County Law Enforcement Association in conjunction with the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s office will be taking place at the firehouse parking lot on Community Avenue. Certified Technicians will help parents and caregivers ensure that a child fits securely in the safety seat and that the safety seat fits securely in the vehicle seat. Bring your vehicle and safety seat(s). Bring your child, too…if he or she is available!
Saturday
• 11 am – Zumba demonstration by Lisa Garnett. This class is open to the public. There is no cost to participate.
• 2 to 5 pm – Old fashioned chicken barbecue, $10. Limited tickets are available; call Bill Osterhout at 658-2924.
• All Day – Inflatable Obstacle Course by Heroes at Home, a peer support program for Veterans and their families in Rensselaer County.
Throughout the event the Mobile Fire Safety Trailer, courtesy of the Rensselaer County Fire Chiefs Association, will be staged at the field and open for public participation. This is an interactive educational tool designed for fire prevention awareness for both adults and children. Come experience the completely safe simulation. The trailer is open to the public, free of charge.
In the event of an emergency, a First Aid Station is located on the field.[/private]
