County Legislators To Ask State For Road Repairs On Route 22, Route 20 And Route 150

August 2, 2013 By eastwickpress

submitted by Rich Crist, Majority Legislative Liaison
Members of the Rensselaer County Legislature are hoping to get the attention of State officials to have three State highways in the County reviewed for much needed repair work.
[private]Legislators said they have received numerous calls and complaints from residents and business people regarding the condition of State Route 22, which travels along eastern Rensselaer County through Stephentown, Berlin, Petersburgh and Hoosick, State Route 20, which travels through several municipalities and State Route 150, which also travels through several municipalities.
“We have received a number of calls about the deterioration of State highways in the area, including State Route 22, State Route 20 and State Route 150, and would like to see the State review the condition of these roads and make the appropriate repairs,” said Legislator Lester Goodermote, who represents the towns served by Route 22.
The State roads, in different areas, have large potholes, cracks, crumbling shoulders and fading road stripes. One business owner in eastern Rensselaer County told legislators that he has lost business from nearby states because of the poor condition of a state road.
“These are important roads for travel by residents and commerce by business. Plus, they play a big role in shaping the general appearance of the County and need attention,” said Legislator Leon Fiacco of Wynantskill.
“There is still time in the construction season for the State to fix the problem and improve these important roads,” said Majority Leader Ken Herrington, who chairs the Public Works Committee and who represents Cropseyville, Brunswick and Pittstown among other areas.
Legislators have filed three resolutions for consideration at the August 9 legislative meeting seeking review and appropriate repairs of State Route 22, State Route 20 and State Route 150. If approved, the resolutions would be sent to State officials and State transportation offices.[/private]
