Harry and Marion Sheldon Celebrate Their 60th Anniversary

August 9, 2013 By eastwickpress

submitted by Sandy Hyde
If you see Harry and Marion Sheldon this week, please wish them a Happy 60th Wedding Anniversary.
They grew up in small towns that touched each other. He in Rupert, VT, and she in West Rupert. He was the youngest in his family with three older sisters. She was the only girl in her family, smack in the middle of four brothers.

Later on, Marion was at a barn dance with a date, when Harry walked in, on leave from the Navy. She did not leave the dance with the guy she came with, but instead left with Harry. That was the beginning.
They were married in Rupert on August 8, 1953. Harry’s sister, Carol, was the matron of honor and Marion’s brother, Tom, was the best man. Marion and Harry moved to Hoosick Falls where he worked at the Wood Flong Corp. and she worked at what is now Key Bank. They raised three children, Sandy, Lori and Jay. They lost Jay to cancer in 1982. They now have six grandchildren and, currently, two great-grandsons.
Marion and Harry love camping and boating and have spent at least one week every summer at Lake St. Catherine. They also enjoy Cape Cod. They play a little golf in their spare time. Harry loves to be on his computer, and Marion spends a lot of time in her wonderful gardens. They go back to their roots every August to Rupert’s Old Home Day celebration.
Here’s hoping that Harry and Marion Sheldon will celebrate many, many more wonderful years together.
