New Poultry House Exhibit On Great Stone Barn Opens

August 30, 2013 By eastwickpress

Along with the Meetinghouse, the Great Stone Barn is the icon of Mount Lebanon. After years of planning and fundraising a technologically advanced stabilization of the structure is underway. To coincide with this monumental project, a new exhibit is on display in the Poultry House at the North Family, itself newly restored for the occasion.
The exhibit chronicles the barn’s ingenious design and construction as well as the restoration underway at the site this summer. Historic photographs, architectural drawings and 3D imaging help re-imagine what the Great Stone Barn looked like before a devastating fire in 1973.
Learn all about the Great Stone Barn’s past, present and future and then just step outside and take a look for yourself!
Thanks for the hard work and generosity go to Peter Watson and the Shaker Museum | Mount Lebanon Historic Site Committee who made this exhibit possible.
The Great Stone Barn Exhibit will be open during the 2013 season until October 14, Friday through Monday from 11 am to 4 pm.
