Trish Marki, a trained wildlife rehabilitator and educator with the Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York will be joining the Hoosick Falls Summer of the Owl Ceremony and Celebration.
Marki is bringing three live owls, each a different species of owl indigenous to this region, to The Armory on Wednesday, August 28, at 7 pm.

Her half-hour presentation features hands-on demonstrations. She will share information on owls’ nesting, breeding and hunting habits. HAYC3, The Wildlife institute of Eastern NY and Silent Wings are pleased to offer this wonderful opportunity to see these majestic birds up close and for free. Kids and adults will learn what we can do to ensure their ongoing residence in and around our community for years to come.
Owl Mural
Also happening at the Ceremony and Celebration will be the unveiling of the Main Owl Mural in the Perry Room at The Armory. It features twenty-seven unique owls, each one named, sitting in a gigantic tree. An Owl Hunt for families and kids follows the Owl demonstration. Get a free walking tour map and see if you can discover all of the owls created by our very own Hoosick area artists that are scattered around the Village. You will find owls on the main mural and the mini-murals, painted wooden owl sculptures in store and business windows and owls that have been painted right on the windows. Images from Hoosick’s “Summer of the Owl” community art will be all over the place. Who will find the most? Who will find the biggest? The most colorful? The cutest? The most detailed? The scariest or funniest?
Be a part of the legacy. Be at The Armory at 7 pm on August 28 and be among the first to see the amazing artwork created by local artists and the live owls. For more information, go to www.hayc3.org.
