Kevin McGuire, Broadway veteran and founding artistic director of The Theatre Company at Hubbard Hall, will return to Cambridge “In Concert” Saturday, September 28, at 8 pm. His accompanist for the program, ranging from classic and contemporary show tunes to pop standards, will be David Tolley.
Hoosick Falls native McGuire starred in national and international tours of Les Miserables, Phantom Of The Opera, The Secret Garden and Jane Eyre. With TCHH, he acted in and/or directed more than fifty plays and musicals. This past fall and winter, he performed in the Drama Desk nominated Donnybrook at the Irish Repertory theater in New York City. Most recently, McGuire was seen in critically acclaimed productions of Uncle Vanya and Red.
Tolley, McGuire’s frequent collaborator, is making his Hubbard Hall debut. His career as a performer and music educator has encompassed composing and producing music for all of the major broadcast networks as well as for Steven Spielberg and the Disneyland parks in Paris and Tokyo. He has written seven musicals, including one that ran off-Broadway and was nominated for two Grammy awards. Tolley has performed for four U.S. Presidents (Ford, Reagan, Bush and Clinton), as well as made several appearances on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show, one of which in 1985 launched his career when he, impromptu, filled in for an injured pianist. He is currently an Associate Professor and Director of the Music Industry program at Delaware State University.
