Scott Areson has been a cook for 34 years. He has cooked at resorts on Stratton Mountain and the former Village Landing and Dougherty’s in Hoosick Falls. Now he’s cooking up a storm at Scotty’s Diner at 22454 State Route 22 in Eagle Bridge. [private]”It’s fairly quick food,” he said. “But good food, nothing fancy.” Lately he has been using fresh vegetables from his garden in what he makes.

Scotty’s opened in early July. So far it has been going well. “We get a lot of repeat business,” he said. He, his wife Terry McGuire and Brennan and Jacque McGuire are planning a Grand Opening for Saturday and Sunday, September 14 and 15. Brennan will sing and play guitar Saturday evening.
They have waited to have the official opening until they got everything ironed out, he said. “We’ve been experimenting and making changes.” He is working on some specialty nights such as pasta or Italian night. On Wednesdays, starting in October and going through the winter, they will have Trivia Night.
The diner has a 1950s flavor. “It’s casual and comfortable,” said Areson. And convenient. Scotty and his family live nearby.
The menu includes hamburgers, hot dogs, fish fry, soup of the day, macaroni and cheese, hot and cold sandwiches and much more. A house favorite is the Dougherty’s Hot Roast Beef or the Landing’s Hot Turkey dinners. There are also daily lunch and dinner specials.
To order food to go, call 258-5122. By next year Areson hopes to offer window service. Catering and party planning services are also available.
Scotty’s is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 11:30 am to 8 pm and closed Mondays.
