The Town of Hoosick Republican Committee will host its annual American Red Cross Blood drive on Columbus Day, Monday, October 14, at the North Hoosick Fire House from 1 to 6 pm.
[private]Taking a few minutes of your time to donate could save up to 3 lives. Individuals who weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Come prepared; you will need a positive form of ID and the names of all medications you are taking. Make sure you have had a light meal and plenty to drink before donating.
At some point in our lives, many of us will know someone who needs a blood transfusion. A continuous supply of blood is needed for the sick and injured including accidents and trauma victims, cancer and transplant patients and people with blood disorders. There is no synthetic substitute for human blood that can be transfused to patients. Therefore, donators are needed.
Your contribution is very important to maintain a healthy and plentiful blood supply. You may never meet the person who receives your blood, but you will feel good knowing you helped change a life.
You are encouraged to call 518-322-8685 to schedule an appointment, but walk-ins will be welcomed.[/private]
