William C. Gardner

Berlin – William C. Gardner, 66, of 71 Liberty Street, North Adams, MA, died Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Berlin, NY, on December 4, 1946, he was the son of the late William and Irene (Langlois) Gardner. ob-WilliamGardnerHe attended schools in Berlin. Mr. Gardner was employed as a union carpenter for most of his life and also worked at the Green Mountain Race Track in Pownal, VT. At the time of his death, he was employed by Barr & Barr Builders of Williamstown, MA, and North Adams, MA. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Karen (Van Steemburg) Briggs, one daughter, Tracey Maynard of Williamstown, one son, Joseph Gardner of North Adams, two stepdaughters, Jennifer Ering and her husband Timothy of Kingston, MA, and Rebecca Briggs of North Adams, eight grandchildren, Laetitia, Taylor, Keegan, Jacob, Jaelynn, Stephan, Phineas and Sawyer, two great-grandchildren, Braden and Brielle, a brother, Thomas Gardner of Stephentown, NY, three sisters, Charlotte Garneau of Brooksville, FL, Nora Fitzpatrick of Troy, NY, and Mary Gilbert of Stephentown, along with several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister, Theresa Purdy.
Funeral Services for William Gardner were held on Thursday, October 17. Calling Hours were at the funeral home from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial Donations are suggested to be given to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Ronald McDonald House through the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, 521 West Main Street, North Adams, MA, 01247.
