by Bea Peterson
According to Yvonne Keefe of the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department, a 911 call was received on Friday morning, November 1, that an armed robbery had occurred at the Subway shop located on Route 7 in the town of Hoosick.[private] Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene. A short time later Deputies located the suspect vehicle and detained the driver who matched the description given by Subway employees. A search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence and items of evidence were seized as a result. Bryan J. Galvagni, 35 of Hoosick was charged with robbery in the second degree, a felony, and misdemeanor larceny.
On Wednesday, November 6, Galvagni appeared in Hoosick Town Court. His preliminary hearing was waived and the case will now go to the County.
“My deputies work hard every day to fight crime in Rensselaer County to make our residents feel safe. Thanks to the cooperation of Subway employees, we were able to resolve this quickly and safely,” said Sheriff Mahar.
According to Keefe, the Sheriff’s Department was assisted on this case by the NYS Police and the Hoosick Falls Police Department.
