Since renovating its building, one of the many valuable programs the Petersburgh Public Library has offered the community is a public access gallery space to exhibit art. Numerous local and regional artists – from pre-schoolers, to art students putting on a group show, to recognized professionals – have exhibited a wide variety of inspiring works in many media.

In many cases, the Library has approached people about having an exhibit, but the Library also invites anyone interested in exhibiting their artwork to let it be known. Don’t be shy! It’s a great opportunity! You can contact the Library at 658-2927 or by email at director@petersburghpubliclibrary.org or Margaret Weinland at 658-3247 or marcat3@gmail.com.
In addition to wall space for hanging art, the Library has a locked upright glass display case which is available to members of the community with something to share. If you have a craft, a collection, a hobby, historical or cultural materials, etc… which you would like to display, please let the Library staff or Margaret Weinland know. Exhibits and displays are usually kept for a three month period.
From October through December, the Library is featuring Paintings and Photographs by Helen Rice, a versatile artist from Johnsonville. Rice paints in both oil and acrylic, and is currently a member of the Saratoga Art Guild and the Southern Vermont Art Guild. We encourage everyone to stop in and enjoy this exhibit. A broader showing of her beautiful work can be seen at the John Street Gallery in Hoosick Falls, call 518-527- 8352 for hours.
The book discussion group date and time has been changed. Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver will be discussed on Wednesday, November 13, at 7 pm. Everyone is invited to attend.
