On October 19 the Cantering Cowpokes 4-H Club attended the Rensselaer County End-Of-Year Banquet at the Poestenkill Fire Hall. This banquet was for all the 4-H clubs involved in horses to get together and celebrate their achievements of the past year. Awards are given out; people are congratulated, and food is eaten.

This year the Cantering Cowpokes received a Blue Ribbon for Herdsmanship at the 2013 Schaghticoke Horse Show. This meant that the club did a great job representing their club and keeping the stall housing clean day by day. Also, Emma Woolley and Christina Shupe both received the Golden Horseshoe Award (a coveted engraved belt buckle) for their age group (Senior and Intermediate respectively).
This award was designed to congratulate people who went to County events throughout the year, such as horse shows, horse programs, 4-H competitions and community service. Emma and Christina received the top award in that category. Their club is very proud of all the work they did to achieve these awards. Other club members received awards for their project records, which are records kept on the progress made throughout the year with their project horse. The night was full of memories of the past year and got the members excited about the year to come.
