25 Years Of Postal Service Excellence In Petersburgh

December 6, 2013 By eastwickpress

Earlier in May of 2013, Donald Jones, a rural carrier for the Petersburgh Post Office, was recognized for his 25 years of federal employment. He received a mounted letter of appreciation and a gold 25 Year Service Award Pin from Postmaster Cindy Page. [private]The letter specifically praised Jones for his many contributions throughout the years  toward improved Postal Service operations. Postmaster Cindy Page further extended her thanks and deep appreciation for a career of commendable service.

Donald Jones has lived in the Town of Petersburgh since 1963 and he began his career many years ago in 1986 as a substitute rural carrier. In January of 1989, Jones  became a full time employee of the United States Postal Service. He currently delivers the mail for the RD #1 Southern Road route including Berlin, Poestenkill, Stephentown, Cherry Plain, Petersburgh and Grafton.

Known as “Donny” and for “his great service with a smile,” Jones states that he has really enjoyed the customers throughout his career as a rural postal carrier. He claims that if you treat people the right way, they return the same demeanor. In addition, he gives high merit to the team at the Petersburgh Post Office for continually working hard to provide a great service for the people in the area.

Jones has thought about retirement after 25 years, but he is not quite ready to commit to the idea yet. It is safe to assume that many of his long-time customers are likely to be reluctant for that change as well!
