Anna Brewer Earns Girl Scout Silver Award

December 6, 2013 By eastwickpress

submitted by Joyce Brewer – Community Chair for Hoosick Falls Girl Scouts

Hoosick Falls Girl Scout Anna Brewer earned the Girl Scout Silver Award. This award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. Anna’s project, titled “Can You Hear Me?” focused on hearing issues. [private]Anna researched and found that most companies producing headphones and earplugs are not informing the public that decibels over 85 can ruin your hearing but are advertising how high the decibels in their products can go. Anna wrote letters to officials asking them to pass laws making

Anna also  informed the public by running informational programs that encouraged them to pay attention to how loud is too loud when using any form of loud sound products. She published a bookmark for younger children in schools and youth programs to teach them how to protect their hearing for their lifetime. If you would like to get a copy of this bookmark or have Anna talk to your group of kids, please feel free to contact her at www.girlscoutshoosick@gmail.com.
