Cookies For The Marines

December 6, 2013 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson

Ryan Corbin, a 2009 graduate of HFCS, is a U.S. Marine. He has served in Afghanistan. Many of his buddies are there now. He is not. He is recovering from shoulder surgery. However, his buddies are not forgotten and many of them will receive a taste of home for Christmas.

[private]Late Monday afternoon, December 2, members of the Hoosick Kiwanis Club and their little associates, the K-Kids, packed cookies to send to Corbin’s comrades in Afghanistan. Kiwanis members made the cookies, and the K-Kids packed them up in no time flat, assisted, of course, by the adults. K-Kids advisor Brandi Smith and Kiwanis President Wendy Larson and other Kiwanis members made quick work of the cookie sorting and packing. K-Kids are elementary school students, from 7 to 10 years of age. They meet at the Youth Center every week and often participate in community service projects. For more information on K-Kids contact Brandi Smith at 590-5467. For information about joining the Hoosick Falls Kiwanis Club, contact Wendy Larson at 429-1641.
