At 11 am Tuesday, a Hoosac School student, driving a small blue station wagon, was exiting Pine Valley Road attempting to cross NY Route 7. While crossing the roadway, the front of the wagon was clipped by a New York registered burgundy Pontiac traveling east. [private]After being hit and having the entire front ripped open, the wagon spun one hundred and eighty degrees, ultimately ending up facing the direction from which it had been coming. The Pontiac continued off the southern side of the roadway and came to a stop against a low pile of erosion control rocks in front of the Hoosick Sunoco station. The Hoosac School student was very shaken up but otherwise unhurt. The woman driving the Pontiac was transferred from her vehicle to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad and taken to the Southwest Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. The Hoosick Fire Department and the NY State Police also responded to the call.
