Hoosick Television Stars

January 17, 2014 By eastwickpress

This has been a big week for the Town of Hoosick. Two of its own have become television stars. On Tuesday evening, January 14, an enormous crowd gathered at the Dutchaven Sports Pub in Buskirk to view the first show in a series of ten in “Building Wild” on the National Geographic Channel. The show stars Cabin Kings Paul DiMeo and Pat “Tuffy” Bakaitis of North Hoosick. [private]DiMeo and Bakaitis build camps from found materials in five days in out of the way places. All of these cabins are within 30 miles of Hoosick.

On Wednesday evening, January 15, there was a big gathering at the Man of Kent in Hoosick to celebrate Kyle Seifert’s appearance on “American

Pickers” on the History Channel. The Pickers visited Seifert’s barns and found several items to their liking at his place. Of particular interest were old cigarette machines, old signs, an urn and a coffee grinder. They were especially pleased to find an old, tall traffic sign used in cities when cars first became popular. Of course all the items were valued at double the price the Pickers paid. Several old pictures of Hoosick and one nice one of Ron Seifert were part of the show as well.

Both shows were received with cheers and laughs and overall great pleasure. How often do folks get to see their two good friends and/or relatives on national television?

One person remarked that it was very exciting and great to see Hoosick folks on television that weren’t going to jail! That seems to be the only time the Capital District media comes to Town.
