Hudson Valley Community College student Lisa Schulz of Stephentown was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the international academic honor society for two-year institutions of higher learning.
Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is indicative of academic excellence. Those inducted are matriculated students who have met standards including a grade point average of 3.71 or higher.
Schulz is studying Entrepreneurship at the Troy college.
In November 1988, Hudson Valley established the Alpha Xi Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the only nationally recognized honor fraternity serving regionally accredited American institutions which offer Associate’s Degrees.
Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is a highly coveted honor. Students eligible for membership must achieve a high cumulative grade point, be of good moral character and possess recognized qualities of leadership. Induction into the chapter occurs in the fall and spring of each academic year. Scholarships to four-year institutions are available to Phi Theta Kappa members.
An induction ceremony took place, Thursday, November 21, in the College’s Maureen Stapleton Theatre.
