Mark D. Johnston, a 1985 graduate of Hoosick Falls Central School and a 1990 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University/ Medical College of Virginia with a B.S. in Pharmacy and a minor in Psychology, was presented the Bowl of Hygeia Award by a cooperative of pharmacy organizations including the National Association of State Pharmacy Associations, the American Pharmacists Association Foundation and the Idaho State Pharmacy Association.

The annual Award recognizes pharmacists in each state who possess outstanding records of civic leadership in their communities and is considered the profession’s most prestigious award. The Bowl of Hygeia has been a symbol of the pharmacy profession since as early as 1796. The award was first given in 1958.
Johnston has also received the McKesson Leadership Award, the National Community Pharmacists Association’s Pharmacy Leadership Award, Albertson’s Education Award and Regional Pharmacy Manager Special Recognition Award from the American Stores Company.
Mark Johnston is currently employed as the Executive Director of the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy, is an adjunct instructor at Idaho State University’s College of Pharmacy, was elected to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy’s Executive Committee and is past President of the Idaho State Pharmacy Association.
Johnston is the son William C. Johnston of Hoosick and the late Karen “Kiz” Johnston. He lives in Eagle, Idaho, with his wife Kristina and his daughters Morgan, Bailey and Kassidy.
