Stephentown Historical Society Talk On Four Native American Archeological Sites

January 3, 2014 By eastwickpress

Andy Krievs will give an illustrated talk on four Native American archeological sites in Rensselaer County on Monday, January 6, at 7:30 pm at the Stephentown Historical Society’s Heritage Center, Garfield Road (County Route 26), Stephentown.  The building is handicapped accessible. For directions, telephone 518-733-0010.

Krievs is Project Director at Hartgen Archeological Associates, Inc., a cultural resource management firm headquartered in Rensselaer.  Within the last fifteen years, they have conducted archeological studies at four Native American sites near the Hudson River in Rensselaer County.  These sites have yielded artifacts and radiocarbon dates indicating a series of Native American occupations ranging from approximately 2500 B.C. to A.D. 1620.  Come and learn about the people who lived in the area in the past.
