Panther Grapplers Win Two

Last Saturday, February 1, in the HFCS gym, the Panther wrestling team met two opponents. First was Whitehall-Fort Ann at 1 pm. Then at 4 pm HF took on Cambridge, defeating them by a 66 – 6 score.

Before the early match the seniors and their parents were honored. The senior wrestlers presented their moms with flowers. Senior wrestlers were Louis Weierbach, Tyler Rondeau, Mike Mattat, Derek Bird and Tom Peabody.

In the Whitehall-Fort Ann match, John McCart won by forfeit, Nolan Foster won by pin, Louis Weierbach by pin, Nick Schrom by pin, Tom Peabody by forfeit, Mike Mattat by forfeit, Tyler Kondean by forfeit, Shane Richard by pin, Garrett Wright by pin, Derek Bird by decision and Shane Barss by decision.

In the later Cambridge match, John McCart won by forfeit, Nolan Foster won by pin, Louis Weierbach by forfeit, Nick Schrom by pin, Tom Peabody by forfeit, Mike Mattat by forfeit, Tyler Kondean by forfeit, Colby Davendonis by pin, Shane Richard by pin, Garrett Wright by forfeit, Derek Bird by decision and Shane Barss by decision.

According to the HFCS sports calender, Section II Class C wrestling Sectionals begin at 9:30 at the Glens Falls Civic Center, beginning at a time to be announced, on Thursday, February 13. On Wednesday, February 12, varsity and JV will wrestle at LaSalle Institute at 6 pm.
