Tanker Truck Jackknifes In Tibbetts Forest

February 7, 2014 By eastwickpress

A westbound oil tanker truck, driven by a Bennington, VT man, jackknifed on Route 7 just east of the Man of Kent late Sunday morning. The truck was headed to the Port of Albany to pick up fuel oil. The driver stated that a car stopped in front of him and he took evasive action. The result was the cab ended up headed in one direction and the tanker in another on the north side of the road. The car drove away. The scene took over two hours to clear. Even though traffic was allowed to pass much of the time, westbound vehicles backed up to the red light in Hoosick. Hurley's Garage of Melrose responded with two tow vehicles and removed the tanker and truck cab. No one was injured. The Hoosick Fire Department responded and stayed on the scene until both vehicles were removed. (Steve Bradley photo)
