Caroline C. Perkins

Bennington/Cherry Plain – Caroline C. Crandall Perkins, 97, formerly of Cherry Plain, NY, died peacefully Thursday, February 27, 2014, at The Manes House in Bennington, VT, where she had resided for the past 15 years. ob-perkins2.jpegBorn in Cambridge, NY, on May 10, 1916, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Crandall. She was a graduate of Berlin High School and worked before her marriage as a domestic for Emily Henrotin. She was employed as the Postmaster for the Cherry Plain Post Office for 19 years before retiring in 1987. Her retirement was spent enjoying time with her family.

She was the wife of the late Andrew H. Perkins, loving mother of Anne P. and husband Marc Woodroe of Liverpool, NY, Lorraine P. and husband Joe Schiff of The Villages, FL, Carol P. Wagar of Charlotte, NC, and Patricia P. and husband David Shuhart of Cherry Plain, the adored grandmother of Colleen Wagar, Aletha and husband Bob Cummings, Aimee Shuhart and Derrick and Davey and wife Janel LePage, and the great-grandmother of Andrew Cummings and Calvin Shuhart. She is pre-deceased by her siblings and is survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the gang at the Manes House for the wonderful care given to mom.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on her birthday, Saturday, May 10, at 1 pm at the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh, NY, with visitation prior to the service from 11 am to 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Manes House Celebration Fund, c/o Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, P.O. Box 361, Petersburgh, NY, 12138.
