Schodack/Stephentown – Lambert F. Cassidy, Jr., 73, of Schodack, NY, died Saturday, March 8, 2014, at his home after a long illness. Bert was born and raised in Albany, NY, and had worked in the parts department at Crailo Ford and Orange Motors. He retired in 2005 from the NYS Department of Transportation.
Lambert was a member and Past President of the Castleton Fish & Game Club and a member of the NYS Pistol team. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Pistol Shooter medal and was a certified instructor of pistol license classes. He was a lifetime member and Commissioner of the Schodack Valley Fire Company and a lifetime member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed yearly family camping trips to Moffitt Beach, fishing, hunting and was an avid outdoorsman.
Predeceased by his parents, Lambert F. Sr. and Marie Cassidy, and first wife, Marilyn (Haines) Cassidy, Bert is survived by his wife, Susan (Miller) Cassidy, his daughters, Susan and husband David Oligny of Stephentown and Sheila and husband Tom Costa of Mellenville, NY, his sons, Brian and wife Nancy Cassidy of Schodack and Cliff and wife Pat Rockefeller of Tivoli, NY. Bert is also survived by six grandchildren, Amanda and Larry Oligny, Brian Jr. and Nicole Cassidy and Thomas and Michael Costa, and two sisters, Mary Kennedy and Jean Sterling.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 pm Thursday, March 13, at Ray Funeral Home, 59 Seaman Avenue, Castleton, NY. The funeral service is Friday, March 14, at 10 am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 1 Humane Society Way, Hudson, NY, 12534.
