Stephentown – Lansing “Scotty” Burdick, 92, died peacefully at his farmhouse on Friday, February 28, 2014, with his family at his side. Born in the family homestead on the farm in Stephentown, NY, on May 8, 1921, he was the son of the late Elwin A. and Anna Snell Burdick, Sr. He was a graduate of Berlin High School, Class of 1939, and later graduated from Troy Technical Institute (now HVCC) with a degree in accounting.
He worked in Washington, DC, for a year as an accountant for the federal government before returning home to take over the family farm in Stephentown. He operated the dairy farm until 1976. Along with his son Garry, Scotty operated a large maple syrup sugar house operation on the family farm. Scotty had routes where he sold his maple syrup and supplies and also shipped maple syrup around the world. He was a member of the NY Maple Producers Association. He also enjoyed bowling and bowled at the Colonial Inn in Berlin, NY, and the Lar-A-Bowl in New Lebanon, NY.
He was the husband of the late Beulah Burdick, who died in 2003, the devoted father of Janice M. MacDonald of Grafton, Garry S. and wife Kathy Burdick of Cherry Plain, NY, and Carol A. Dupont and Steve Keeler of Stephentown, grandfather of Kevin and Michael MacDonald and Shellie and Nick Burdick. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his siblings, Elwin Jr., Thurman and Clarence Burdick and Mary Burdick Ottman.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department, 396 State Rt. 43, Stephentown, NY, 12168.
