Panther Bowlers Finish Third In Sectionals; Many All Stars Named

March 7, 2014 By eastwickpress

submitted by Coach Bob Lang

The Hoosick Falls bowling team placed third out of twenty eight at the Section II, Class C, Bowling Tournament at Boulevard Lanes in Schenectady on Tuesday, February 11, with a six game total for five bowlers of 5,358 pins. Mechanicville finished first with a total of 5,468 followed by Middleburgh with a total of 5,456. Other schools from the Adirondack Bowling League who bowled well were Fort Edward, fourth with 5,233 pins, Hoosic Valley, fifth with 5,105 and Stillwater, tenth with 4,748.

[private]The top six-game totals for Hoosick Falls bowlers were Ken Marbot – 1,139, Josh McCart – 1,129, Stephen Surdam – 1,058 and Jennifer Sargood – 993. The top five-game total was Kyla Day with a 912. A.J. Hurlburt bowled one game with a 127. Jonathan Bossoni and Eric Bloomer were part of the team but did not bowl. The best high game and triples for the Hoosick Falls bowlers were Ken Marbot, 236 (third high game for tournament) – 623, Kyla Day 210 – 579, Stephen Surdam 211 – 577, Josh McCart 211 – 570 and Jennifer Sargood 204 – 502.

“We were in first place after the morning round with a respectable 2,710 but got off to a slow start in the afternoon with a 846 game. We came back with a good 932 the next game but finished with a 870 last game which wasn’t enough to overtake Mechanicville who had a nice 981 in their last game to win the tournament.

“The team bowled good considering the difficult oil pattern that was being used. Overall, I was really proud how they stayed patient and finished third even though they struggled most of the afternoon. The team had an outstanding season winning the Southern Division with a great 54-2 point record and 13-0-1 match record, winning the Adirondack League Tournament and winning the overall Adirondack League Championship. Congratulations on a job well done!” said Coach Lang.
