Robert F. Willbrant

Petersburgh – Robert F. Willbrant, 92, of Willbrant Road, Petersburgh, NY, died on March 10, 2014, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT.

ob-WillbrantBorn in Hoosick Falls, NY, on August 27, 1921, he was the son of the late Frank and Edna Loker Willbrant. One of his childhood pastimes was sleighing down Plank Road in Berlin, NY. Robert was the loving husband of the late Helen P. Willbrant, whom he married on June 2, 1946, in St. Lawrence Church in Troy, NY. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.

Bob met his late wife, Helen, at a dance where their courtship started. After their marriage, they moved to Cherry Plain, NY, and in 1955 purchased and operated the Maple Lane Farm in Petersburgh for 55 Years. Bob was an avid hunter; he loved family gatherings, especially on the holidays. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his three children, David R. and wife Diane Willbrant of Oklahoma City, OK, Nancy H. and husband Charles Stearns of Petersburgh and Anna M. Willbrant-Rice and husband Steven of East Nassau, NY, his grandchildren, William, Warren and Robert Willbrant, Steven Stearns, Audrey Kuhn and Dustin Rice, and his great-grandchildren, Lana Willbrant and Conner Kuhn, as well as two great-grandchildren on the way. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, 67 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, on Saturday, March 15, at 10 am with interment to follow in the Berlin Community Cemetery.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh, on Friday from 4 to 7 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the Petersburgh Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 164, 2 Twin Hill Road, Petersburgh, NY, 12138, or to the Petersburgh Fire Department, 9213 State Route 22, Petersburgh, NY, 12138.
