Beatrice Jane Wheeler

Stephentown – Beatrice Jane Wheeler, 90, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Van Rensselaer Manor in Troy, NY. Born in Stephentown, NY, Jane grew up in the house in which her mother, grandfather and several of the Briggs generations were born. ob-Beatrice WheelerShe was the daughter of the late Thomas and Beatrice Briggs Wheeler. A lifelong area resident, Jane spent most of her life in Rensselaer. She retired many years ago as a secretary for the NYS Department of Health.

Jane enjoyed her volunteer work at the Children’s Hospital in Albany and Meals on Wheels. Most of all she cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed.

Survivors include her three sisters, Elizabeth Hughes of New Hartford, NY, Mary Locke of Fabius, NY, and Doris Stone of Chatham, NJ, her sister-in–law, Lisa Wheeler, and her seventeen treasured nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her brother, Thomas Wheeler.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 1 pm at the Stephentown Federated Church, 1513 Garfield Road, Stephentown. Interment will follow in the Stephentown Cemetery. Afterwards, friends and family are welcome at the farm to visit and have refreshments. There will be no calling hours.
