Berlin FCCLA Students Attend Leadership Conference

April 4, 2014 By eastwickpress

FCCLA students across the New York State were mesmerized by speaker Jacy Good as she told of the tragic loss of her parents and her miraculous recovery from a car accident caused by a teen using a cell phone.  Another speaker, brought to the group by the National Safety Council, was Marianne Angelillo from Skaneateles,  NY, author of ”Sharing My Stones,” who talked of turning her grief into a campaign for awareness for teens and parents trying to prevent underage drinking.

Courtney Kellar, former State officer and graduating senior, stepped to the podium to accept the Adult Award for STAR Event contribution for Mrs. Jennifer Burhans.  Jennifer was recognized for her years of service to the State STAR event program and to the organization.  Jen recently retired as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

The Berlin Chapter was recognized for participation in the State Project “Share Our Strength,” and  was named a Rose Bud chapter for community support and received an iRecruit award for the largest Jr./Sr. High Chapter in the State.

The year is not over for FCCLA. May will bring the kick off for Relay For Life, Voting Day Chicken Dinner and the Mother’s Day plant sale.

Students hope to attend the Summer Leadership Camp in Owego in July.
