Berlin Students Inducted Into National Art Honor Society

On Friday, March 28, 19 students from Berlin High School were inducted into the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) during the Inductee Breakfast at the Middle School/High School Library.

[private]Instituted just last year, the Berlin High School chapter now has 39 members. Students inducted into NAHS must show an outstanding ability and interest in art. They must also meet GPA requirements and demonstrate a positive attitude and behavior.

NAHS members participate in various community service activities including an “essentials drive” for the Capital City Rescue Mission, whereby members collect items such as clothing or toiletries.

NAHS members have collaborated with Berlin fifth-graders on the “Beautify our School with Agriculture” project. Students will paint old tires into vibrant planters. They’ve planted the seeds in the school’s greenhouses and will fill the planters with perennials and annuals. Planters will be placed at the Berlin Elementary School playground.

Students also go on various outings, including a trip to the University at Albany to visit the campus and its gallery.

“The National Art Honor Society encourages 21st century skills, like creative thinking,” said Berlin Art Educator Christina Wallace. “These students now have a great resumé builder, and it looks so great on a college application.”

Please contact Christina Wallace at cwallace@berlincentral.org to donate to the “Beauty our School with Agriculture” project.
