As of Wednesday, May 14, Yvonne Keefe, Public Affairs officer for the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office reported that the investigation into the fatal car accident on May 7 that took the life of George T. Kautz, Jr., age 66, of Johnsonville, is still ongoing. [private]No additional information has been released at this time. According to the Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received at approximately 3 pm reporting a two car accident on Route 7 near the Route 279 East, Bennington Bypass, and the turnoff to Route 9 toward Bennington.
The Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the NYS Police Troop G Collision Reconstruction Unit, the Bennington Police Department, the Hoosick Fire Department and the Hoosick Falls Fire Department.
The other driver involved in the accident did not report any injuries. Pending the results of the investigation, charges may be filed.[/private]
