Hoosick Planning Board Action – April 2014

May 9, 2014 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson

The Town of Hoosick Planning Board meeting began on Monday, April 21, with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for Board Secretary Karen Jennings and her family as her father, John McMartin, passed away on Easter Sunday.

Board attorney Denis King said that at the joint meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Board the previous week, members of the ZBA said they would like to handle the site plan review for issues brought before them. King said this is perfectly legal, and he recommended the Planning Board allow the ZBA to do it.

Johnson Hill Family Subdivision

Brian Bole appeared before the Board to discuss his plans to divide his 67 acre property on Johnson Hill Road into nine lots. He would keep the house lot and two other lots for himself and gift six lots to family members. It was noted that two of the lots do not have road access. Bole said he would retain those lots, which would make that a simple subdivision and then there would be the six lot family subdivision. As this was an initial conference, he will appear before the Board again in May with details and two separate applications.

Dunigan Property

Board Chairman Jim Dunigan recused himself from the Board when Bill Johnston addressed them regarding Dunigan’s property on County Route 95. A portion of the property will be reserved as wetlands. There will be five subdivisions and three boundary line adjustments. The property has not yet been surveyed. It was suggested that the boundary line adjustments be a separate issue.

Fitzsimmons

Wayne Willson of Albrecht and Willson Land Surveyors addressed the Board regarding the Fitzsimmons property on Route 7. Mrs. Fitzsimmons has 57 acres, and she would like to gift 2.13 acres to her daughter as a family subdivision.

Eldred Property

Attorney Ed Gorman addressed the Board on behalf of the Eldred family. The property is to be subdivided into two lots using Fox Hollow Road as the boundary line. One piece includes a house. It was agreed that this was an initial conference and that it would be classified as a simple subdivision.

The next meeting of the Planning Board will be Monday, May 19, at 7:30 pm.
