The New York State DOT is beginning work this week on a $790,000 slope repair project on Route 2 between the two entrances to East Hollow Road. They expect to be working there for several months. [private]DOT spokesman Bryan Viggiani said they are hoping to complete the project by “early summer.”
There will be a lane closed much of the time, with east and west traffic alternating by means of flaggers. The road will be closed completely at some point in May. Truck traffic will be detoured to Route 346, but local traffic will be able to get around the project on East Hollow Road. The first closure is tentatively planned for May 10 – 19, but the project is weather dependent so the date is subject to change depending on whether the weather co-operates or not.
