Be A Part Of Hoosick Rising

June 6, 2014 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson

There are many people who will tell you how great Hoosick and Hoosick Falls used to be – when there were stores on John and Church Streets and plenty of manufacturing jobs and restaurants. Times have changed, and efforts are underway to revitalize the community. It will never be what it was; it will become something different and better. And it will require a community effort. Step forward, be part of the action. New voices and actions are needed. Every single person can make a difference.

HoosickRisingLog0FINAL-4cOn Wednesday, June 11, there will be a meeting in the Armory from 6:30 to 8 pm to discuss and plan the next steps in the economic development of the greater Hoosick area. Camoin Associates from Saratoga has been hired to assist in this endeavor. They have been particularly successful in working with rural communities like Hoosick and Hoosick Falls and expect to be successful here.

Hoosick Rising

Hoosick Rising is not just a slogan but an inner feeling that brings the communities of the Village of Hoosick Falls and the Town of Hoosick together – to become one strong entity for the betterment of the entire region. The community’s ability to come together when crisis strikes or when a sports team does well is common here. What is needed is to take these shared feelings and transfer them into actions toward making the Hoosick Community the best it can be. To recruit new businesses and families, to build upon the foundations of established Hoosick enterprises and ideals and to develop and execute plans for a positive future. These collective goals cannot be reached without the input and the help of the Community at large. Great things can be accomplished, but it will take everyone sharing his or her individual skills, talents and expertise – working together to see things through. Hoosick Rising means that it is time to stop expecting others to do it all. Rise up, volunteer to be a cause champion and make Hoosick a more vibrant and sustainable place. It is only through the spirited efforts of local individuals that the Hoosick Community as a whole will rise to new and greater heights.
