HAYC3 is pleased to offer two new art courses for young artists through it’s new Riverbrush School of Art program.
“Have Fun with Art” is a three week series of Saturday morning art classes for children in grades k-4. This course will meet Saturdays July 12, 19 and 26 from 9 to 10:30 am. Beginning this fall, courses will be four weeks each. Classes will take place in the exciting, inspiring updated Art & Soul Room downstairs at The HAYC3 Armory, 80 Church Street in Hoosick Falls. The cost is $60 per child for July’s three-week session and includes all materials and supplies.
Eileen Druckenmiller, who has more than 15 years of experience instructing and using the creative process with children and adults, is the instructor. She and her family have been a part of the Hoosick Falls community for more than nine years.
Each multiple week session will have a theme related to art. Some will focus on a time period in art or a group of artists, art of a particular country or certain artistic techniques. Class participants will be invited to learn about art and creativity in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
The Drawing Class for Serious Young Artists is the other course HAYC3 is offering this summer, and it is for fifth and sixth-graders. The course runs four Thursday afternoons, July 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 3:30 to 5 pm. Deb Alter will teach the class in the Art & Soul Room at The HAYC3 Armory; tuition is $100 and supplies are included. Students should bring a sketchbook.
The young artists in this class will explore a variety of techniques and materials, draw realistically from observation and from their imaginations. They will work with black and white media (graphite, charcoal, pen & ink) and with color (colored pencils, watercolors, pastels). The focus will be on line and shading techniques, composition, perspective, and how to make color work. In the process, students will explore a variety of subject matter, artists and art from other cultures. Subsequent courses will introduce additional new media, skills and artistic concepts.
Classes are open to kids from Hoosick Falls and the surrounding areas. Please pre-register your child by July 3 for the July sessions. To register, call HAYC3 at 518-686-9050 or email contacthayc3@gmail.com. You can also stop by The HAYC3 Youth Center at 115 Church Street between 2:30 and 6 pm any weekday.
