Hoosick Planning Board Action – Board Responsibility Might Change

June 20, 2014 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson

At the Town of Hoosick Planning Board meeting on Monday, June 16, Planning Board attorney Denis King said that as a result of the combined Planning Board and Zoning Board meeting with Town Supervisor Mark Surdam, Zoning Board attorney Mark McQuerry had asked him to look into the Zoning Board taking over the responsibility for Site Plan Review. King told the Board to do so is “perfectly lawful.”

[private]Board members agreed that in many cases it is logical and makes sense. They recommended a request be made to the Town Board to enact such a change. If the Town Board approves the request, then the sole responsibility of the Planning Board will be Town subdivisions.

Subdivisions

Valerie Sutton appeared before the Planning Board on Monday with a request to subdivide eight acres from a 43 acre property on Spicer and Brenenstuhl Roads purchased by Dave Sutton in 2013. The Board declared the proposal a simple subdivision.

Board Chairman Jim Dunigan recused himself from the Board while Bill Johnston discussed with them anticipated major subdivision plans for Dunigan’s Brimmer Road Farm property on South Street. Johnston said there was one stand alone piece next to the cemetery on Route 95 that includes a house. Two lots will be set aside for conservation. The Board waived a survey and engineering report as this has been done by the federal government.

Chad Cook appeared before the Board to request a boundary line change to property on Cobble Hill Road. The Board approved the change.

Jeff Benkoski addressed the Board regarding property on Bachwood Road. The Board declared it a family subdivision.

Board Members Needed

The Board asked King to recommend to the Town Board that the size of the Planning Board be reduced from seven members to five. The Board is already short members, and they hope that individuals will come forward to serve with them on this Board.[/private]
