Hoosick Post Office Closing

June 13, 2014 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson

According to Maureen Marion of the Corporate Communications Postal Service the last business day at the Hoosick Post Office will be Thursday, July 3, as the Post Office must be out of the building by July 4. “This is a leased facility,” said Marion. “We will continue to work toward other solutions.”

[private]”Our goal, most of all, is for our customers to get their mail,” said Marion. To that end the Postal Service has arranged for banks of Post Office boxes to be placed at Hos-Cot Builders, Inc., 628 South Street. “The location is well lit and well maintained and customers will be able to pick up their mail at any time. They will not be able to purchase stamps or mail packages in Hoosick. Packages coming to Hoosick postal patrons will have to be picked up in Hoosick Falls.

Box Number Remain The Same

Box numbers will remain the same, said Marion, but new keys will be needed as the old keys will not work in the new boxes. “A week or so prior to closing box customers will receive information on how to get a new key,” she concluded.

Deli To Expand

The Big Moose Deli and Country Store will utilize the Post Office spot to expand its retail space.
