The Petersburgh Public Library will begin the summer reading program on Monday, June 30. Everyone is invited to a special family concert, “Reading Rocks,” featuring “Tommy” Gardner of The Uncle Brothers. He presents an upbeat, interactive and parent friendly show, and children of all ages will love it. Gardner began singing and writing children’s music when his own kids were in elementary school. This led to many great song ideas and to the beginning of his classroom workshops for creative song and lyric writing. His song, “Rainbow” (Two Big Kids) won the KidSing 2001 songwriting contest (grand prize) and his other songs (“I Can”, “When We’re Happy We Laugh”) won honorable mention in the 2002 John Lennon Songwriting contest. His solo CD “My Candy Tree” won the 2004 Parents Choice Award. CDs are available at the Library if you would like to preview his music before the program. The program will be held at the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center.
