Stephen Colvin Fundraiser Raises $15,000

June 13, 2014 By eastwickpress

by Steve Bradley

Stephen Colvin, 21 year old son of Craig Colvin and Melissa North, was this past winter in an accident while skiing in Maine with his college buddies. It was a tragic event, felt literally across the world. But good things can come from the most terrible of things. This past Saturday a great thing came from the tragedy.

[private]The first Annual Stephen Colvin Scholarship Fundraiser was held on the Hoosick Falls Central School athletic fields. The event was a success above and beyond all expectations. Organizers Alex Lilac and Ryan Hand were ecstatic about everything associated with the day. The weather could not have been better, and everyone was a little more red from sunshine when they left than when they arrived.

The turnout for players and spectators alike was wonderful. Some teams donated far more than the $60 entry fee. The Booster Club donated $1,700. Eamonn DeGraaf and his Frying Dutchman mobile food cart donated all the profits from the day’s sales, and he was busy for the entire day.

Thirty teams competed. There was a minimum of six players per team, two players were required to be female. Games started at 10 am and continued throughout the day into the evening. The gals made play contributions to every team. Everyone enjoyed the day. The results were great, and no one was injured, although some lobster colored folks may disagree with that. It just doesn’t get any better.

Next year’s event is already in the planning stages.
