A special meeting was held by the Hoosick Town Board on Monday, June 23, to review the one bid received for pool repairs. According to the minutes of that meeting, Supervisor Mark Surdam, Deputy Supervisor Jeff Wysocki and Councilman Bruce Patire were in attendance. Councilman Dave Sutton was absent.
Only One Bid Received
[private]After an Executive Session to discuss pool funding, the meeting resumed and the Board discussed with Richard Laberge of the Laberge Group why only one of the seven companies that requested pool packets chose to bid.
As a result of the discussion, the Board rejected the one bid for the Town Pool Project and authorized Laberge to modify the original plan to call for a marcite pool with continuous gutter system and a two thirds meter board and to run a line for a pool slide but take out the slide and to remove the request for a pool cover. There should be a shelf for a slab all around the pool perimeter. Supervisor Surdam suggested the Pool Slide might be a good community fundraiser. He also noted that the marcite with continuous gutter system has a projected lifespan of 30 years as opposed to a new vinyl liner that would last 15 years. Recreation Director Tom Margiotta added that a yearly check for preventative maintenance is important.
The mandatory finish date for the Pool Project is June 1, 2015.
The Board further approved advertising for bids under the new guidelines with a tentative bid submission date of July 15, pending approval for the modified plan from the Town Attorney and Town Board. The Board further agreed to return the Pool Package deposit checks of $100 to all contractors. They also agreed that the new bid package will go through Laberge instead of the Town.[/private]
