Shortly after noon on Wednesday, July 14, firefighters were called to the Hoosick Falls Country Club where there was a fire in the stove area. [private]When firefighters arrived smoke and flames were visible. “The first crews (from Hoosick Falls and North Hoosick) made a nice stop,” said Hoosick Falls Fire Chief Robert Bornt. The fire was confined to the kitchen and attic area and got into the roof immediately above the kitchen. Bornt said there was smoke and water damage to the kitchen and smoke damage in the rest of the building. “It (the fire) didn’t get any further than the kitchen,” he added.
Fire Departments from Hoosick Falls, North Hoosick, Hoosick and West Hoosick responded to the scene as well as the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad and the Johnsonville FAST team. Fire companies from White Creek and Greenwich were on standby at the Hoosick Falls Firehouse.
Bornt said there were no injuries and the fire is under investigation by Rensselaer County Origin and Cause.
