submitted by Karen L. Roberts

Kendra Roberts, 11, of Berlin participated in the June 21 Relay for Life in Bennington.  After five years as a team participant, Kendra created and led her own team, Kendra Kares, raising an impressive $1,304 to support Relay for Life’s fight against cancer. As part of her fundraising efforts, Kendra made a quilt to raffle off. Of the total support brought in by the team, Kendra raised $963 on her own, $463 of which was brought in by the quilt raffle.

[private]Leading her team by walking 25.25 miles from 7 pm to 5 am, Kendra took first place in the 12 and under category. Other team members were Sandra Catlin walking 24 miles, Teigan Catlin walking 24 miles, Karen Roberts walking 18 miles, Ariana Hendricks walking 11.25 miles, Lisa Garnett walking 10 mi., and Mona Norlund walking 3.5 miles. Kendra would like to thank the community that supported her in this venture. Team Kendra Kares hopes to grow even more next year to further both the support and awareness for Relay for Life.
