Angeles T. Hall, 88, passed away on July 14, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy. Born in Cabagan, Isabella in the Philippines, she was the youngest of ten children born to the late Fausta & Jose Taggueg. A World War II survivor of the Japanese Invasion, she graduated from the University of Santa Tomas in Manila with a degree in nursing.
Angie immigrated to the United States on a student visa whereupon she studied and worked at Margaret Hague Hospital (Jersey City), St. Barnabus Hospital (Bronx), Doctor’s Hospital (Manhattan) and St. James Hospital (Newark). Angie attended Columbia University, where her graduate research was part of Dr. Mildred Montag’s research and development of the associates degree in nursing.
Angie later received her NYS Teaching Certification from SUNY Geneseo. She married Anthony “Tony”/”Roy” Hall of the Bronx in 1957. Moving to Berlin NY, she worked as a RN in Bennington VT followed by a successful career as a LPN instructor in Troy for BOCES (now Questar) until her retirement. She continued as a substitute teacher, later volunteering for many organizations including the Little Sisters of the Poor in Latham, and received a Senior Lifetime Achievement Award from the Capital District Senior Issues Forum in 2011.
She was predeceased by her husband Anthony Hall. Surviving Angie are her children, Audrey (Scott) Vanderhoef of Grafton, Albert (Kim) Hall of Latham and Alan (Michelle) Hall of East Greenbush and her grandchildren, Christine, Andrew, Annie and Lydia. Angie also leaves behind her dear friends, Bob “Murph” Anderson and daughter Amy, Valerie Bulson and Michael Knuetter.
We wish to thank St. Mary’s Hospital, as many who cared for her over the years were former LPN students of Angie. Special thanks to Van Rensselaer Manor, The Pines of Heartwood and NYOH Latham Cancer Center. As per her late husband, Angie’s remains will be donated to the Albany Medical College’s Anatomical Gift Program as a symbol of her lifelong passion for teaching and educating the medical community.
A memorial service is planned for 11 am on Saturday, August 2nd at Our Lady of the Snow in Grafton.
