Hoosick Falls Summer Soccer Camp

August 29, 2014 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson

Fifteen youngsters participated in the first ever locally organized and run soccer camp. The camp was held at the George Helft Soccer Complex in Hoosick for young people in the first through sixth grade. It ran from August 4 to 8, from 6 to 8 pm. “It was our first Camp with an in-house registrar and in-house coordinator,” said Hoosick Falls Soccer Club Board Member Laura Peabody. She hopes the camp will become a yearly event.

Volunteers

Former HFCS Girls Soccer Coach Tom Husser volunteered his time to work with the little guys. He was assisted by former HFCS soccer stars Grace Delurey, Mackenzie Hinchliffe, Alice Hayden and Noah Chani. “They did a wonderful job,” said Peabody. “Tom Husser was amazing,” she added.

“The kids loved it,” said Peabody. “They made dramatic improvement in the five days. The fall soccer season is now underway and they’re ready!” The Camp ended with an ice cream social.

Peabody, a lifelong soccer enthusiast, was a member of the first HFCS Girls Soccer team that started in 1994.
