There are many species of Goldenrod (Solidago) that all thrive during the months of August through October. Tall Goldenrod (Solidago altissima) and Showy Goldenrod (Solidago speciosa) can stand up to seven feet. The crushed leaves of Sweet Goldenrod (Solidago odora) give off a licorice scent. A tea can be brewed from its leaves. If you see one with hairy stems, it is Stiff Goldenrod (Solidago rigida). There are many more species.
