HFCS Girls Soccer Wins Two

The Lady Panther soccer team upped its record to 3 – 0 in league play and 4 – 1 overall with two wins over the past week. The Ladies topped Mechanicville 3 – 1 last Friday, and Tuesday the team traveled down to Hoosic Valley and proceeded to paste the Indians 6 – 0.

In Friday’s game, Jordyn Haynes, Taylor Mann and Angela Gonzalez each scored one goal. The Panthers held a 3 – 0 lead before the Red Raiders put a score on the board. Jayde Tutunjian had eight saves in goal for the Panthers while Mechanicville’s Lauren Claeys had six.

In Tuesday action against Hoosic Valley, the Panthers came roaring out of the gate with Haynes and Rachel Pine both notching goals in the opening minutes. By the end of the first half the Panthers were up on the Indians by a 5 – 0 score. Haynes went on to score two goals on the day, Rachel Pine, Taylor Mann, Shaelynn Kelly and Angela Gonzalez each scored one  goal. Kelly’s goal was her first as a varsity player.  Rachel Pine had three assists in the game. Tutunjian had two saves for the Panthers, while Hoosic Valley goalie L’Rae Brundige had nine.

This week the Panthers will host Cambridge on September 18 at 4:15 pm. On September 22, they will again play host, this time to the Stillwater Warriors, at 4:30 pm.  Wednesday, September 24, will find the team traveling to Greenwich, and the game is scheduled to begin at 4:15 pm.
